MCP server and CLI command reference for the aidimension platform.

MCP + CLI Overview

aidimension ships two developer-facing tools that wire the platform into your editor, agent, or terminal:

  1. MCP Server — exposes every aidimension resource (components, templates, skills) over the Model Context Protocol
  2. CLI — a single binary for scaffolding, installing, and managing aidimension

MCP Server — TL;DR#

# Add the aidimension MCP server to Claude Desktop
claude mcp add aidimension -- npx -y @aidimension/mcp@latest

Once added, your agent can:

  • 🔍 Search components by name, prop, or use case
  • 📋 Copy component source into your project
  • 🎨 Generate a theme from a brand description
  • 🧱 Pick the right template for a new page
  • 🧠 Install skills into the running agent

Example conversation:

You: "Build me a pricing page with a monthly/annual toggle."

Agent: (calls mcp__aidimension__pick_template → returns pricing template, then mcp__aidimension__copy_template → writes src/app/pricing/page.tsx)

How they fit together#

The CLI and MCP server share the same component registry at registry.aidimension.io. When the CLI adds a component, it uses the same JSON manifest the MCP server queries. They're two interfaces to one source of truth.

Versioning#

Both tools follow semver:

  • 0.x.y — pre-1.0, breaking changes are minor bumps
  • 1.x.y — stable, breaking changes are major bumps
